How Fundraising Works
The map you weren't given: where the money comes from, why people give, and what a development program is made of.
Through the International NGOs lens
Individuals still supply most of the money, but your donor base is unusual in one respect: most of them will never see the program their gift funded, so trust has to do the work a campus visit or a hospital tour does for other sectors. That distance makes the retention cliff sharper too, since a donor who never receives a concrete report of impact has no evidence the trust was warranted, which is why naming a real person and a real result in your case for support matters more here than reciting a national statistic.
