Culture of Philanthropy: Leading Across the Organization

When program staff, finance, and the front desk understand their role in fundraising, the work gets easier. Building that culture is executive work.

Through the K-12 Schools lens

A school's version of the concern that donors exploit the people being served is really about students, and a teacher's discomfort with a child's photo in a fund-a-need appeal deserves the same consent standard this module recommends: ask the person involved, let them review the final copy. Front-office staff who know a family by name rather than by tuition account, and a head of school whose own thank-you calls are known and imitated, are what this module's culture checklist looks like in a school hallway, and only the head of school has the standing to make that behavior the norm rather than the exception.
