This is the event a first-year, often solo, fundraiser is most likely to inherit cold: a walk, a fun run, or a small dinner, and the true-cost warning about staff hours matters acutely because there may be no other staff to absorb months of planning. The fund-a-need moment is frequently the only major-gift-scale ask the organization makes all year, which is exactly why the script's caution against pressure protects a room where donors and the people the organization serves may be sitting together.
