Culture of Philanthropy: Leading Across the Organization

When program staff, finance, and the front desk understand their role in fundraising, the work gets easier. Building that culture is executive work.

Through the Arts & Culture lens

Few sectors use this module's own language as naturally as arts organizations do: front-of-house is already how your ushers and box office staff describe themselves, and a recognition sheet for top patrons or a first-call standard for donor calls fits a role that already exists on your org chart. An artistic director who names one or two staff willing to speak with patrons about the work, briefed and never ambushed, is this module's program-partnership play wearing a gallery talk's clothes, and a director who thanks a patron without being staged to do so teaches the whole building what the institution actually values.
